Knoxville Botox - Dysport Knoxville - Botox Knoxville - Botox Doctor - Dysport Knoxville

Aggressive New Dysport "Love it or Leave it" $150 Rebate Extended Through September!

Dysport is an FDA-cleared anti-wrinkle injection that is the first real competition for Botox. As a way to entice patients to try their product, Dysport is running a “Love it or Leave it” challenge. When you have a Dysport treatment before the end of September, you'll receive a $75 rebate on your first visit. If you are happy with the results after 15 to 30 days, Dysport will provide you with an additional $75 rebate on your next Dysport injection.

Here's what makes it interesting: If you don't like the results from Dysport and decide you are not happy with the product, Dysport will give you a $75 rebate on your next treatment even if you use Botox! Love it or Leave it.

Read Dr. Reath's blog post "Dysport: Six Months and Counting" for more information. Let us know which you like better in the comment section!

Make lines and wrinkles go away..... and stay away

We use Botox, and the new Dysport, to help eliminate frown lines on the forehead, crow's feet and brow area. And it only takes 10 minutes! Aside from younger looking skin, patients are also pleased that there is no recovery time and the side effects are minimal.

Both Botox and Dysport are used to prevent the muscle activity which causes wrinkles. Below you can see the incredible improvement by using Botox on Crow's Feet.

Below are two patients in their early 40's who are pictured lifting their eyebrows before and after their Botox procedures. Both said they look at least five years younger now.

BEFORE BOTOX AFTER BOTOX

An ultra-fine needle is used to precisely inject small amounts of BOTOX® into the muscles that cause facial expressions. By relaxing specific muscles, the wrinkles and lines they cause disappear. After one treatment you can still laugh and smile, but your wrinkles will begin to fade. Within three to five days, your skin will be significantly smoother and your wrinkles will be drastically reduced. The results of BOTOX® injections generally last four to six months and subsequent treatments sometimes last even longer.

Some of the most amazing results occur when dermal fillers, like Juvederm or Prevelle, are used in conjunction with Botox. It makes such a difference for patients who have deeper lines that still show after the facial muscles have been relaxed.

Here is an Interesting Wrinkle: Dysport

Botox finally has competition. The "new" injectable Dysport, a form of botulinum type A, is available after being cleared by the FDA. Dysport is the first product to challenge Botox in the United States. You should know that it has been competing with Botox in Europe for over 20 years; yet, Botox dominates with an 83% market share throughout the continent.

There is a learning curve with any new product, but particularly so with Dysport. Because Dysport is diluted more than Botox, clinicians not adept at determining how many units to inject may be confused with the new product. It is important to understand that they are not interchangeable as it takes more units of Dysport than Botox to treat an area. Unlike other offices, we will use whatever is needed of either product to guarantee you get the results you want.

Clinical studies of Dysport report that it "spreads more" during injection. This can be both a good and a bad thing. It is good in  large areas like the forehead or the armpits to treat excessive sweating. It is bad for an inexperienced injector without a good understanding of the more complex musculature (around the eyes, between the eyebrows).

We are closely evaluating Dysport to determine it's effectiveness. Based on the European experience and a recent study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, we originally thought that Botox would have the advantage. On the other hand, Dysport does take effect quicker. If you are short on time before a big event, we do have Dysport available.

Our patients know and love Botox. We are very pleased that they have designed Brilliant Distinctions, an aggressive new loyalty program designed to keep Botox patients happy. Meanwhile, Dysport is getting very agressive with rebates in an unprecedented attempt to tempt Botox users to give it a try.

After nine months, it's still to early to tell which is the better product. Some of our patients prefer Botox, some have preferred Dysport, and others don’t see much of a difference.  And, other than the onset of action, we aren’t seeing major differences in our patients. For your best results, find a good injector who knows you, and knows both these products well.  This is the key to getting the best results.

Needless to say, things are heating up in the wrinkle-relaxing world. We expect Dysport will not be the only product to challenge Botox. PurTox, by Mentor Corporation, is in the process of obtaining FDA clearance and should also be available very soon.

Dr. Reath speaks to the Botox/Dysport debate in a recent Truth-O-Meter Tuesday video. Take a look.

A No-Sweat Solution: Botox

Botox has many other medical uses besides wrinkle-reduction. One of the most helpful is for controlling Hyperhidrosis, a medical condition in which a person sweats excessively and unpredictably. People with hyperhidrosis may sweat even when the temperature is cool or when they are at rest. Many people who suffer from Hyperhidrosis tell us that they get nervous because they sweat, then sweat more because they are nervous. It affects both men and women.

Botox can be a life-changing, temporary treatment for those suffering from severe underarm sweating. Both Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved for the treatment primary axillary hyperhidrosis. Small doses are injected into the underarm areas to temporarily block the nerves that stimulate sweating. It lasts from 7 to 9 months. Nurse Injector Jill Maze will tell you that these are some of her happiest patients because they can wear their favorite clothes and don't have to worry when they take their jackets off. On a recent Truth-O-Meter Tuesday video, Dr. Reath and Jill discuss hyperhidrosis:

Shopping for Wrinkle-Relaxers

There are many physicians's offices that are  injecting Botox and Dysport. Why come to us?

Experience combined with artistry- You will benefit from an injectable plan designed personally for you by Dr. Reath. The injectable consultation with him is free and patients find it very helpful. Working under the direct supervision of Dr. Reath, our nurse injector, Jill Maze, RN, trains with the most renowned experts in cosmetic injectables. It requires a unique blend of artistry and science, as well as the need to stay current. Consequently, she periodically travels the U.S. to observe the leaders in her field. Patients routinely comment on her caring manner and her fabulous results.

Pricing that makes sense- Botox and Dysport are both distributed in a powder form intended to be mixed by the person doing the injections. Because it is expensive, variations in price can be attributed to different dilutions or the actual amounts injected. Many patients have told us they were disappointed in wrinkle-relaxing injections that were not done in our office.

That's why we price by the area treated, not by the unit. And why we have a courtesy touch-up policy.

Botox and Dysport are priced the same:
One Area $350, Two Areas $500, Three Areas $750
Treatment of excessive arderarm sweating: $800

Injectable pharmaceutical therapies are readily available but there are many unqualified providers offering treatment. Often, these unqualified providers entice consumers with deep discounts, and in some cases, treatment is provided with an unknown or imported substance that is not FDA approved. It's so important that you visit the office of an appropriately trained, board-certified practitioner, namely a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist. Accept treatment only with a brand-name substance that is cleared for use in the United States by the FDA. Approval may be specific to your planned treatment or the substance is openly accepted for off-label use.

Anatomies differ and determining the best injectable or combination of injectables and exactly where to place them should not be left to chance—a bad shot and you could be looking weird rather than wonderful. And even though fillers and Botox are not permanent, you'll need to learn to live with your results until the injectable wears off.

Don't get injected without consulting with the doctor first. All patients considering injectable treatments in our office meet with Dr. Reath first to precribe a treatment plan and go over safety information before they proceed with our nurse injector.

Be mindful of the setting in which the procedure is performed. Spas that are not part of a physician's office (medi-spas), or friends' house parties are not the place for treatments of this kind. Injectables should only be administered in a medically appropriate environment.

Bottom Line: Establish an working relationship with a great injector at the office of a board-certified plastic surgeon and then stay there. You'll have a chart with a record of exactly what was injected and how much. This gives your injector a ongoing medical history enabling you to get the correction you want. Our Reath Rewards program is designed as a thank-you card to our loyal patients. This way you know you are getting the best price, while being confident in your result.

Meet Jill Maze, RN

Jill Maze is a welcome addition to our practice. Her patients attest to both her caring bedside manner and her skilled professionalism. Working under the direct supervision of Dr. Reath, Jill’s extensive training and gentle touch is a winning combination. She is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses.

Since the FDA’s Juvederm approval and other fillers, Jill has been focused on training with the southeast’s most renowned experts in Cosmetic Injectables in both Atlanta and Boca Raton, Florida. This year she traveled to Las Vegas to be in the first class in the country to attend the Advanced Injector Competence Training Course designed by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. In addition, she received specialized instruction on techniques for using Botox® for areas other than the upper face. She is also trained and experienced with the recently FDA-approved semi-permanent filler Radiesse.

This area requires a unique blend of artistry and science as well as the need to stay current, so Jill will continue to travel the U.S. to observe the leaders in her field. When she is not traveling and taking care of patients Jill likes to spend time with her husband and two teen-aged daughters camping in the great outdoors (and beating them at poker.)

If you have questions about Botox, Evolence, Dysport, Restylane, Juvederm, Prevelle or Radiesse, email Nurse Injector Jill Maze at JillM@dbreath.com

  About Botox :

What can we say except "Botox Rocks"! Seriously, we love it! (And so does Virginia Madsen profiled here in People Magazine.) The key is to find the right Knoxville office with a great injector.

Since the FDA approved it for treating wrinkles in 2002, over a million men and women have had Botox treatments.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked Botox as the most popular of all cosmetic procedures surgical and non-surgical combined. And it is popular for a reason. A month after treatment, 90 percent of patients rated the improvement in the appearance in frown lines as much better.
